The Detroit Manufacturing Training Center (DMTC) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) automotive manufacturing training facility located in the empowerment zone of the City of Detroit. Established in January of 2000, the Center is a 46,000 square foot facility that was constructed by the Ford Motor Land Development Company on land donated by Dave Bing, President of The Bing Group L.L.C. The Center was designed to provide basic entry-level automotive manufacturing skills and job placement services to unemployed and underemployed residents of the City of Detroit and surrounding areas. The impetus for the Center’s development was the assistance that Dave Bing sought from the Ford Motor Company in dealing with the high turnover rate of his entry-level work force.
